Spinnen in de winter (en breien)

Het is hier nog steeds winter. Iedere keer denk je, dat het niet nog witter kan worden, maar het kan. Nu vriest het ook nog harder dan eerst, wat mooie ijspegels oplevert, en, in combinatie met een oud muurtje van een oud schuurtje, een mooie foto.

Here it's still winter. Each time I think it can't get any whiter, but it's possible. Now it's also freezing a bit harder than before, which gives us beautiful icicles, and a nice photo, when that's combined with an old wall of an old shed.

Er zit dus niets anders op dan binnen blijven en breien, spinnen en/of weven. Hoe vervelend.

So nothing else can be done than stay indoors and spin, knit and/or weave. How terrible.


De kleurencirkel is uitgebreid met 12 strengetjes.

Marion, je hebt echt niet zoveel geduld nodig om dit te maken. Integendeel: het is moeilijk ermee op te houden.
Je hebt wel een bepaald systeem nodig, waardoor het allemaal een beetje sneller gaat.Zo spin ik een heel aantal kleurtjes achter elkaar op een klos, waarbij ik een dikke katoenen draad tussen de kleuren in knoop. Dat maakt, dat ik het einde van iedere kleur goed herken.
Als de klos vol is zet ik een nieuwe klos op mijn spinnewiel, een bollenwinder op de tafel en draai een bolletje van de eerste kleur. Dat twijn ik, vanaf mijn duim, met de einden van het bolletje van binnen en van buiten.
Als het bolletje opgetwijnd is, knoop ik het volgende eraan vast, enz. Gaat redelijk snel allemaal. Hoewel: vanmorgen maakte ik strengetjes van deze twaalf kleuren en dat duurde toch nog een uur.

Ineke: ik dacht dat je met alle soorten garen kunt klossen? ;-)

Marion said she has no patience to do things like this. Well, actually you don't need so much patience. Quite the opposite: it's hard to stop once you've started.
What you do need is a certain system of working. I spin the singles of the colours on one bobbin, and tie a thick cotton thread between the different colours, to clearly seperate them. When the bobbin is full I put an empty bobbin on my wheel and install a ball winder on my table. I wind a centre pull ball of the first colour, put it on my thumb and ply from there with the two ends (inside and outside) When the whole ball has been plied I tie on the next, etc. All that is pretty fast. However: this morning I made the skeins of thes twelve colours, which took an hour altogether.

Vanmiddag breide ik verder aan mijn Panama sjaal, het kerstcadeautjepatroon van klabouter. Hiervoor gebruik ik de handgesponnen zijde van de zijde 'caps' die ik hier vorige maand liet zien. Gebreid met naalden 2.5 mm vind ik het resultaat erg mooi en het breit heerlijk. De kleuren van de foto zijn niet erg goed, maar kunstlicht was nodig en dat beïnvloedde de kleuren ongunstig. Het patroon komt wel goed uit. Hier ben ik gevorderd tot het einde van de tweede aanwijzing. Amanda, ik zag jouw Panama op je blog - je schreef dat je problemen had met aanwijzing 3. Ik zie niet zoveel ingewikkelds. Is er iets waarop ik extra moet letten? Ik probeerde een reactie op je blog te plaatsen, maar om de een of andere reden lukte dat niet.

This afternoon I continued knitting my Panama shawl, the Christmas-present-pattern klabouter gave us. I use the handspun silk caps for this, which I showed here a short time ago. Needles 2.5 mm. I really like the result and the knitting is lovely smooth and soft. The colours in the picture aren't very good, but I had to take the photo this evening, with artificial lighting, which influenced the colouring.
But you can see the pattern. Here I've got to the end of clue 2. Amanda: I saw your Panama on your blog - you wrote that you had problems with clue 3. I can't see anything too complicated here. Is there anything I must pay attention to? I tried to react on your blog, but for some reason I couldn't.

Hoewel de dagen langer schijnen te worden, is het nog steeds erg lang erg donker. De sneeuw helpt daar wel bij, die maakt, dat het ook bij donker soms mooi is buiten. Hier ons pad, vanavond.
