Over mij

Mijn foto
I'm a Dutch weaver, knitter, spinner, lacemaker and love anything that has to do with fiber and yarn. And of course I like to read books, magazines, newspapers.

Vrolijk pasen!

Happy Easter!

The last project of the bobbinlace-school season. Company for my Easter hare. A design from the latest 'Juliana', a German bobbinlace magazine.
Now I try to continue with my lace vest, but somehow I don't get to it. I wound the first bobbins again, had to stop 'for a moment' and haven't touched it since then.
I do read a lot, though. The latest book I read was 'Framed in lace', by Monica Ferris, from the 'Needlecraft Mystery'series. As the name shows it's about lace. Bobbin lace to be precise. Fun to read and the plot is not bad at all. Those series are nice to read in an easy chair, in the sunshine (which we had a lot here lately)

Weer een paar dingen af

A few more things done.

As I wrote before I often have knitting needles in my hands. With some project on them, obviously. It doesn't really make sense to take pictures of that all the time. Now I've finished a few things, though.

Last year I started knitting a sweater/cardi from Creative Knitting, an English magazine I sometimes buy. I haven't got it on hand here at the moment, so I don't know who the designer was. It was the June issue, if I remember correctly. It seemed a fine project to use up some of my handspun wool, in this case Swedish wool Joke, one of my spinning friends, gave me.
The photo of the back has been waiting for months to go into a blog post.

It was a raglan, with cables to shape the back and beads along the bottom of body, sleeves and neckline, which were hardly visible.

As usual the handspun wool doesn't look very good before blocking, but now the whole sweater is done and has been blocked, it's again surprising.
Hier dezelfde rug.

The same back.

And the front of the sweater - a bit white, my neck, after such a long winter. Although a nap in the sun (old age, don't you think?) gave some red spots there. That's what you get when you try to read a book in the sun, after lunch.

The March mystery socks are done, too. I took a photo on a concrete tile in the garden, because I thought the colour would go well with the socks

but when I went back inside I saw the flowers of the pulsatilla (we call them 'wild man's weed') and saw the colours of that were exactly the same.

So now I've got a pair of wild man's socks!

Foto's daarvan volgen ongetwijfeld later.

I've also finished knitting the Metamorphosis sweater, but that has to be blocked still. No doubt photos of that will be here later.
