It's autumn. It's raining. The wind is blowing, or rather: it's storming. Everything looks grey. Sue asked us again to send in our colours of the month, but the past few days didn't exactly invite us to walk arond the garden. Therefore a few pictures of earlier this month, when the sun appeared now and then.

When summerholidays began Jasper came to us with a very small plant. His teacher had given it to him, to look after durin g the holidays. What it was? Jasper had no idea. We had. He asked, if his plant could grow in our garden. It could. Together with him the plant was put into the ground. Jasper went to Spain, for a holiday with his parents and sisters. When he came back, he saw this.

This is what the little plant looks like now. In the bottom right corner the leaves are visible of our 'courgette' plant - I think it's zucchini or squash in English speaking countries. Leigh wondered, what people do with these. I'll try to write some of my recipes here soon. But one plant produces more than the two of us can eat.
Onze tomaten.

Our tomatoes.
De rozen krijgen ook al vruchten.

The roses are getting fruit as well.

But still: the roses are getting to their end...

with his friend. Isn't the frog's colour beautifully the same colour as the leaf on which it is sittting?

Annie, I would love to try some of your recipes! Even though it's autumn, your garden looks amazingly healthy. Mine is starting to show signs of wear and tear, some disease and bugs which are getting a foothold. You're right, our plants are so similar, even though we are in different parts of the world.

Laughing about the zuchini-it overwhelms no matter where it grows! Very pretty garden!

Great garden photos and I love the little frog.

Interesting on your weather - ours has been a little off as well. Your pictures look like September pictures to me, but harvest of tomatoes is lovely any month. I read Ian your comments about washing rugs - we both got a laugh.

Your colours are so pretty. Your garden looks healthy and great! I love your frog. We have those too in our little pond. They are so cute. We're on the verge of autumn here too.

Wow, that pumpkin has really taken over - ours have grown well this year too - he moved them to a new bed - full of sheep poop! They really love it and have grown huge! T.

And I loved the little green frog!

Thanks for sharing your August colors!

I love how that plant just took over....must have been a little shocking to see it get so big!

Glad I'm not the only one featuring an amphibian in my photos!

That is some courgette plant! Do you save the rose hips for tea? Beautiful garden and photos.

I have always thought that squash blossoms are beautiful! The frog is very pretty, too.
