De Sneeuwkoningin is af! Zij is nogal groot uitgevallen, dus foto's maken was lastig. Hier een poging, in de wind vanmorgen.
My Snow Queen is done! She is pretty large and taking pictures wasn't easy. Here a try, this morning in the wind outside.
Groot!
This is what she looks like when I wear her. Large!
A detail, on which you may be able to see some of the many beads.
I knit the Snow Queen with (bunny) angora, plied with merino. I span this yarn, when I'd run out of the yarn I used for The Garden Path Stole which DD Annette wore with her wedding dress, a few years ago. Of course then I ran out of yarn half way and span and span more of the same wool I'd been using, during a heat wave. I couldn't spin outside, because the wind blew away the light angara and the heat made the fiber stick to my hands. Inside it was just a little bit cooler. I wanted to have enough this second time, because I didn't want to be short of yarn again. The 'little bit extra' ;-) I made was still waiting in my stash and has become The Snow Queen now.
And finally something I've been working on for quite a while: the handdyed silk. (Dyed by Amanda Hannaford from England and bought by me at the market at the spinners weekend in Elsspeet last October) Twining it was an endless job. Not surprising, for when I measured it this morning there was 1200 meters of twined silk on this bobbin!
It's a beautiful lustrous yarn, with which I could knit (will have to, because then I can finally finish my Panama shawl), weave or make bobbin lace. I'll think about it for a while.

for all your kind words. I'm really rather proud of Snow Queen myself (which doesn't always happen with newly finished work!)
