It's long ago since I wrote here: time flies. Yet I sometimes find time to do something with fibres or yarn. Here a few results of the past few weeks.
Red wool: one ply was dyed with KoolAid, the other with Easter egg dye. I added a glitter and plied it all together. The orange wool was dyed with Easter egg dye as well. How fit for the past week, when the whole country celebrated the Queen's birthday and was coloured orange!
I finally finished the black and white yarn. On this skein, plied, was over 600 meters of yarn!
How welcome was Gerrit, our cat, who was guarding the wool.
I wasn't far away myself. A nice place to spin!
Here another view of te black and white wool, divided in equal lengths...
... split and spun in seperate parts, black, grey and white. Navaho plied, so that the colours stayed nicely pure.
I also washed the wool, that has been waiting for quite a long time. A bag full of wool was next to our back door, when we came back from a holiday abroad, left by a friend, who thought it was too much work to prepare it all for spinning. The wool feels and looks like kid mohair and is so soft!!! After washing the yellow colour had fortunately disappeared, as much as the smell. But still: it is quite a lot of work to tease and comb all this wool. There is over a kilo of it! (Here the wool after washing)
In the bag was more wool, great as well. Yesterday I span a sample of it. I've no idea from what animal it originates, but it is soft and white and beautiful. It is easy to spin it without any more preparation after washing, which I also love for a change. I'm curious now to know, what is in the two small bags, that also were in this big bag.
Of course I couldn't leave out photos of tulips in spring in Holland. Here a small part of the colourful fields. The weather was great this spring, although there is far too much wind, these past few days.
We had been sitting in the garden and were just going inside. It's a few days ago already and for a change there wasn't too much wind. Suddenly there was this hot air balloon, right above our heads.
